This tea is soft like a cloud
Don't even think about grabbing it, because it is not there
The only thing you can do is totally relax, open your five senses (not an easy thing)
Tea comes to you whole
Takes you to a pure land
We experienced the purity of PingLing white tea after sound yoga at the last retreat. This white tea is a new master work from Mr. Chung who makes our Big Leaf Oolog, High Mountain Paochung and Laojizi Pu-er.Only with a very high level skill and a pure mind, one could create such tea as gentle, yet full of flavor.

2004 Vintage Pu-er, Mr. Chung's first ever produced pu-er will follow.
Then we finish with a heart warming, Old Tree Water Sprite and a surprise treat

All teas are exquisite and one-of-a-kind like how I always serve you; however, with the special sound yoga routine beforehand, the sound of the boiling water, the dry leaves falling into the clay pot, the steam, the movement of pouring, the color, the scent, the taste, have reached a new level of cleansing and soothing the soul.

We have only 2 spots left for this coming Saturday from 2 to 5pm.It is time for a retreat.

A Three Hour Retreat

My friend Jena and I have designed a 3-hour retreat to share what we have learned and practiced in sound yoga and tea

Jena is a certified yoga teacher.  She has studied with Shyamdas and Yogi Hari.  Her yoga method emphasizes the application of sound vibration as a tool for healing and uplifting the emotions.  A banker during the day, Jena has the purest soul and cleanest energy you could ever want to be close to.  Her yoga routine is gentle, and she uses voice and breathing from our body to practice yoga, rather than bending the muscles.

My first yoga was at Chelsea Piers with Joan, who was 72 years old, around the second year after opening Wild Lily Tea Room.  My body was tired of running a new business. When I first went to Joan’s class, I thought that if I could just walk like her in my 70s, I would be very happy without ever being able to do a headstand.  I was frustrated by all of the demanding poses. There were always dancers in the class, and they could bend their bodies like nobody's business.  After all it was a NYC gym with lots of beautiful people around, even in the early days of Chelsea Piers.

I started practicing yoga alone at home for about an hour before I left for my studio while living in Beijing.   I could not find a right yoga studio, and the traffic getting to a yoga class was unbearable.  Somehow I was onto something that all the instructors were never able to pass on to me. I did not push myself like the instructors and there was no one around who was  more flexible.  I didn't sweat in any pose and did it almost everyday before leaving to paint.  Looking back, the large portion of my best paintings were created during that period.  Something happened in those hours of routine, which helped me find my center and be excited to welcome the unknown, which is life.
Living in New York City makes it harder to maintain a yoga routine.  It is very easy to get trapped in everyone else's activities and forget to make yoga a priority. I have to remind myself constantly to be generous to treat myself to at least 30 minutes for practice.  Think about it, 30 minutes is such a small portion of a 24 hours a day.

We don't have an ambitious attempt to give a life-changing experience.  What we can do is to exchange our good energy with you during these three hours through tea, yoga and the sound we make together.

 A Three Hour Retreat
 November 9th, 16th Saturdays from 2 to 5PM
 50 dollars/person

This will be a small and quiet gathering at my studio.  Yoga lasts 1hr 15min.
Any specific questions, do not hesitate emailing me.

The space is limited.  Please book online in advance.
